An Evening of Food & Wine:

Puriri Hills Wines & Willow Restaurant Tasting Menu – November 2, 2010  7-9 pm

Meet wine-maker Judy Fowler and hear the story of an American woman (originally from VA) who creates phenomenal Bordeaux blends in New Zealand.

Puriri Hills Wines are some of the finest Bordeaux blend wines in the New World and are the work of a woman who began this venture post-age 50! The wines are glorious and have been awarded 90+ points consistently with one reaching 97 points.

In 1995 she moved to New Zealand and by 1997 scrapped the idea of raising livestock and planted a vineyard instead. In less than 10 years she moved from 100 acres of pasture land to consistently creating 90+ point Bordeaux blend wines.

Her 2005 exceptional vintage wine called “Pope” has been bestowed five out of five stars and called the greatest New Zealand wine ever made by more than one critic.

On November 2, come sample her wines along with Chef Tracy O’Grady’s tasting menu which was inspired by them.

Only 1,000 cases of Puriri Hills Wines are created each year and most are enjoyed by folks half way around the world. On November 2 you can taste and purchase some of these extraordinary wines.

Puriri Hills is featured tonight at a tasting for members 5:30 – 7:30 PM.

We are introducing a new format cellar door.  Private tutored tastings, conducted by the winemaker in the lodge kitchen.  Four wines to taste, along with appropriate accompaniments.  Parties of up to 8 guests. $30 per person.  Plan on one hour.
