2008 Vintage Release Dates

The 2008 wines – Pope, Reserve and Estate, were bottled in March.  We are now tasting every few weeks to assess their bottle development.  These are going to be exquisite wines, so release will not come until the bottle shock has settled – probably late 2010.  Stay tuned.

    Hi Judy

We can’t wait to see your 2008′s hit the market, but good things come to those and all. We drank a bottle of your 2005 Pope at a dinner party recently and it certainly turned heads. Very pure, poised and compact. My mate Ross couldn’t get over how “flavoursome” it was. Still very youthful and no rush to drink up yet. Luckily we have 3 more!! :-)

    Hi Judy

Knocked off a 05 Reserve next to a 94 Stonyridge Larose in the weekend. Both stunning wines, the Reserve still really young. How impatient am I!!??? Both wines definitely in the same class.

Just returned from South Africa (was at the FIFA World Cup™), having visited the great Stellenbosch wine region. After sampling SA’s best, I would be hard pressed to rate their Bordeaux Blends as high as the Puriri Hills 05 Vintage selections – there’s simply too much complexity and elegance being drawn out of those Clevedon Hills by Queen Judy.

    Hi Judy

We slipped 08 Puriri Hills Pope into our “NZ Cults and Classics” tasting which included 91 Te Mata Coleraine, 96 Martinborough Vineyards Reserve Pinot Noir, 02 Dry River Syrah, 05 Providence Private Reserve, 05 Blake Family Vineyards Redd Gravels and 06 Bell Hill Pinot Noir. The Pope blew us away and was wine of the tasting up against NZ labels of legend. Our group of tasters can’t wait for release :-) If this wine doesn’t break you into the big time, nothing will!
